Week 48 - Daughter Diary

Mom and Dad reached home yesterday after a long journey withstanding the heat waves of dry and rainless June month. Mom obviously became ill on the way and by the time they reached home it was dark. The good thing was, they reached unscathed with their 5 bags. Yes!

Week 48 - Daughter Diary
We thought Ridhima is gonna miss them and would make our lives difficult but as Rinku puts it, she did not bother it at all, just like her dad. The news for this week is, one more teeth is sprouting on her lower jaw increasing the teeth count to 7 and she is completely ok with it. The only things that she takes seriously now a days is, who will take her out for a spin? She just does not like to bear the pains of spending time indoors with her mom.

Yesterday, I reached home late and by that time she was fast asleep. Rinku explained how difficult it is becoming for her to keep her indoors specially in the evenings. She just cries and cries making her mom’s life miserable. It was around midnight when it started to rain, the first pre monsoon rains. I do not know how but Ridhima woke up. I picked her up to show her the downpour (she calls everything liquid ‘Mum’). And she took me for a ride by refusing to sleep. It took almost an hour when she again started to feel sleepy and I handed her over to her Mom.

Monsoon has not arrived yet in Mumbai and has missed the arrival date for this year leaving the city high and dry. The humidity is at its peak. The only way out with Ridhima these days is the cooler that I purchased when I was getting married. It was never been used that much. She just can’t sleep without it. She will open her eyes as soon as it gets switched off.

Outside food is still at an experimental phase. It is completely her wish and nobody can force anything to her. She surprisingly eats salty and spicy food with ease and the moment you talk sweet the reluctance would appear on her tiny little frowned face. We have tried a lot of things so far but have not been able to find out her favorite flavor. She just rejects everything after the very first morsel. Rearing a baby is not a child’s play and I swear by it. The respect for Rinku, my wife, has only grown over the months.

Ridhima now understands a lot of things and tries to repeat the word pretty easily. She moves around in the house fearlessly making her mom’s life difficult. She just annihilates whatever comes her way, whether it is pile of newspaper, books, toys anything.

Next month is her first birthday and her mom has started planning and losing her sleep over it. She wants to make it grand and wants my full attention on it.

I am like, anything for my dear daughter!
