Week 51 - Daughter Diary

Week 51 - Daughter Diary
How time flies! 9 more days and we will celebrate Ridhima’s first birthday. Rinku has been pretty active suggesting things on how it should be organized and how the shopping and stuff should be done. We have not yet finalized on her angel-dress yet but have a clear idea of how she is going to look like. Friends have been more curios than us. As far as Ridhima is concerned she is as cool as ever, she just doesn’t bother keeping a track of such trivial things.

She is busy sharping her skills to communicate more effectively, to see and understand every tiny little thing going on around her. She wouldn’t mind chasing an ant and sometimes getting bitten in the end. Ants are so unpredictable you see! Ridhima has also made it clear that she understands music; I mean she often breaks into dance. She would hold something to stand up and when if she likes the music or if one asks her to she would fold her knees and shake her upper body. Cute she looks!

It’s a Monday morning and the last day of this hot June months. There is no trace of rains. Monsoon has ditched most part of the country because of El Nino. Weather doctors have predicted less rain this year, as if we believe them.

Ridhima just woke up and is sitting by me calling “ma-ma” “Mum” or “Pa-pa” every few minutes keeping me engaged. “Mum” means many things, her mom educated me yesterday, it can mean water most of the times, milk at times or can mean anything else when she is not happy. What she likes to do these days is to pick everything (every tiny little things including bird droppings) she lays her hands on (first finger and her thumb works as an easy pick up tool) and put that into her waiting mouth. Her mom skips a beat whenever she watches her chewing on something. She rushes for the rescue plucking the stuff out of her mouth. It happens at least 20 times in a day.

Week 51 - Daughter Diary
Take it from me, one child can keep two grown up adults busy 24/7. It is an exhaustive tale of unique happiness and unpredictability. There wouldn’t be one dull moment ever. I just rescued the ear buds of my favorite headphone just now. She plucked it and was chewing on it when her mother who keeps a vigilant eye throughout rushed to see what she was up to. She happily threw it out and now playing with my laptop charger and calling out her mom who is busy making breakfast in the kitchen.

I don’t know what is with other kids but Ridhima cannot play with one toy more than five minutes. She would just move on with her life exploring new things forgetting everything about past. This is what keeps her curious and happy all the time. She lives completely in the present that makes everything a surprise to her. We all were like that only in the beginning and then…
