Year II Week 5 - Daughter Diary

It was a well-deserved trip to Goa. I returned only in the morning, yesterday, tired after a long train journey but the excitement to see Ridhima’s reaction when I would reach home never died down. It was six when Rinku opened the door, I rushed to the bedroom to see my girl and she opened her sleepy eyes, gave an ear to ear smile and slept. It was enough to make me live again.

All roads lead to the sea
I lied down beside her and immediately slept only to wake after 6 long hours. Ridhima was all awake busy with her toys and sometime shaking a leg or two with the latest blockbusters blasting out of the TV. Rinku likes it loud! Interestingly, Ridhima loves all the new songs with loud hip hop music too. I don’t know if this is an indication of her future likings but kudos to music makers who catch their prey young. What has started to happen is, if the music changes she demands to put that back on, making our lives miserable. I am seriously planning to buy a good music system but Rinku has given me a budget that would buy only peanuts.

The leafy lanes of South Goa
The exciting thing was she treated me pretty differently the whole day that simply translated into more screams, more play, more fun. We went for a spin in the evening, something Ridhima likes the most. The only problem is she falls asleep as soon as the cool winds hit her face on the bike. The more exciting thing is we are again going to Goa only after two days and Rinku had to do her last minute shopping. We braved the rains, stopped and started and stopped but got our things done. If I leave the cornflakes and banana for dinner part, it was a day well spent, indeed!

Ban the rays
The best part is Ridhima now tries to take steps and walk. She would just stand up on her own and look into our eyes so that we start cheering up and then she would grin and try to take her graceful steps, would stumble and again get up and again take a step. Her mother has bought her a yellow frame glasses and she played with it the whole day with me yesterday. She would try to wear it and the next second she would want me put that on- yes! The same tiny shiny yellow glass. I followed suit helplessly and it went on for a few hours till Rinku came back from parlor and I was rescued. She and my friend’s wife are totally at it, they are all set for the vacation. Me too!
