You just can’t work when Ridhima
is sitting close to you. She would first see what you are doing, smile and go
for grabbing whatever she could lay her hands on. Banging her hand on the
keyboard is her favorite. Given a chance she does not shy away from grabbing
the corner of the screen and chew on it. Usual toys do not cut much ice and she
wants what we are working on.
There are a couple of words that
she can say very clearly like Da-da, Ba-ba etc. and she just starts singing
with them. Last evening when I came home she was her usual self waving her tiny
hands frantically with a broad smile on her face. There can’t be anything more
soothing after a long day at work. Every malice melts without a sign and you
instantly pulled down from the high pedestal to a level where joy exists.
You
instantly feel disarmed from the worldly wisdom and faced with your innocent
self. I immediately put my bag down changed my clothes and took her to the
terrace because she loves to go out. It was almost 10PM and all we
could see was bright lights reaching the scattered clouds and almost a full moon
trying hard to grab our attention. Ridhima realized soon enough that there is
nothing much to behold and slowed down resting her head on my shoulder. Time to
sleep, it meant!
I didn’t want to come down so
soon and wanted to see the moon a little more. It was after 10 minutes when I
realized she was fast asleep and she needs the cosy feeling of her bed.
Reluctantly, I came down.
What I have realized is you need to look out
for these easy moments to stay alive. You need to breathe and let go your usual
self, you need to be a child at times that you are not stuck and there is always a way
out.
