Year II Week 51 - Daughter Diary

It is 11.50 pm and I totally forgot to update the page. The last week has been a rather long week when the incessant downpour coupled with Ridhima's illness kept us on our toes. It becomes difficult to commute to office when it starts to pour in Mumbai. The traffic goes worse and public transport cripples to its knees leaving a little option for us who like to ride, come what may. You become one with the rains when you surrender yourself to the elements - that is exactly what you experience riding a bike in the monsoon. The cyclonic wind and your frail means to fight it makes you realise what you are really worth. After wearing all the wind cheater and the rain courts water still finds its way to touch you deep within tickling your heart as if reminding how exposed and vulnerable you are.

It was Wednesday when Ridhima complained of her stomach ache again. We were not serious at the first instance as she keeps saying it and just then it vanishes in the thin air. We were proved wrong when she started to go frail in a matter of hours. She looked all pale and sick when I saw her in the evening that day. Rinku was panicking at the other end pressuring me to change the doctor at least. Our doctor has been repeating the exactly same medicines in the last three instances when Ridhima had the same stomach problem. The medicines seems to work and then the ache makes a comeback almost everytime. Changing the doctor sounded to be a good idea.

I searched a senior child specialist nearby on Practo and fixed an appointment with him. I was in office last Friday when Rinku went to the doctor with Ridhima. The doctor observed that she was weak and needed immediate attention. He recommended a number of tests to ascertain the cause of the consistent pain. Yesterday I took her to the pathology to give the blood sample, I made the payment and stuff and since it was early hours we were called in as soon as we reached the counter. It was appalling to see that there were two teens managing the entire show from taking blood samples from the patients to other medical tests. Even upon asking they didn't tell me if the senior doctor was available.

It was a horrifying experience for the next 10 minutes when those kiddos tried their level best to take blood samples from Ridhima's hand and they could not do anything. My child was crying along with Rinku. I stopped them go any further took my money back and returned home pacifying Rinku that I will search some other labs to make it better.

I googled and called a couple of labs from office and they all told me that it is difficult to take blood samples from a toddler and I needed to be a little more patient. Ridhima was not improving and I had to get the tests done yesterday only so that the treatment could be started. Upon one of my other doctors' advise I approached Suyash Lab, 5 min from my residence. They for a change, sounded confident. I could not wait, left office around 2 guess what, the moment I reached the main road my bike broke down. It was pouring like hell and I didn't know what to do next - to leave my bile back in the office basement or take it to the mechanic. I chose the later and got my bike repaired in another 30 mins.

The guys at the Suyash Lab were amazing, one of the senior guys came along with me in the rain to take the blood sample of Ridhima from my home and it went well- so easily the Ridhima did not even hiccuped during the process. By evening on Saturday the reports also came. Albeit the doctor ditched us, he committed that he would come on Sunday just to see the reports and start the medicines. On Sunday we took the reports and reached the doctor at 10 am. He explained that all the reports were negative and there was nothing to worry. The only worry was the infection in the stomach and that can be treated easily. Sigh of relief!

Dear daughter is already recovering. The command in her voice is again resuming along with her naughtiness. What else we want!
