It tickled my soul when I started to rock her in my arms for the first time. She used to open her mouth wide as if a fish and would try to nibble my ear. The sophisticated skin felt so soothing. In fact he Doctor has advised that after feeding she needs to be rocked this way so that she burps and stays settled. Nobody wants that unwanted gas to hurl up when you sleep.
After two days and many tests Rinku and her baby got released from the hospital. It was around 11 PM when we reached home with happy faces all around. Harsh and Yash (kids of my brother in law) were growing impatient to see their new 'kaka' and they were running halter-shelter making their presence felt. It was the first day of the new born out of hospital. I had to find my place downstairs, was advised so by one and all as I was catching a train to Mumbai next morning. Honestly speaking I did not want to leave pune so soon. I never felt that urge before.
The next day I heard that baby's skin was growing yellow. I was like Why? It was a shocking information that made me look for answers. Bhabhi said that this is a normal complication and will be cured if the doctors put her into the blue light. Back in Mumbai I was combing through the internet to find out what made her skin become yellowish and then realized that more than 60 percent of infants world over pass through this stage by the first week of birth. It is called neonatal jaundice.
I came to Mumbai resumed office keeping myself updated with everything that happened back in Pune. It was her sixth day on Sunday and I wanted to go back again to Pune so that I could become the part of the rituals but I could not, probably because there was an important shoot next morning starting at 9. Rinku was feeling helpless, her mom was not keeping well who otherwise could have handled everything easily. Rinku had been enduring severe pain as the stitches were still on and was managing everything quite nicely. The sixth days ceremony reached to an end by 10.30 PM.
You cannot breath on Mondays, it kept me busy but I was in constant touch with Rinku who returned from the hospital after the baby recovered. Tuesday morning I got my tickets booked for Pune. Today in the evening I am catching a train in the evening and will be back to office on Monday directly from there.
